New England Timber Works is a family owned business. We have over three decades of fine home design and construction experience. In our second generation of ownership, we specialize in custom post and beam construction, featuring fine timber frame & post and beam home plans for our clients. Like the trees we use for our timbers, our roots go deep. Our timber framers travel all around the world to help people realize their dream of owning a custom designed and cut Timber Frame home.

We will see you through the process, beginning with the implementation of your timber frame home plans, working with your designer, and giving you consultation time of our own.
Our History
Beginning in the 1970's as a small construction company in the Mount Snow Valley of Vermont, Dover Building Company evolved into a custom home design and timber frame construction company. Owned by Bob and Margie North, Dover Building Company grew to meet the demands of the local community and, gradually, out-of-state customers. In 1990, daughter Sharon Vilcins and son-in-law Ken Vilcins established New England Timber Works, which now ships timber frame homes nationally as well as overseas.
Our Work
All of our post and beam, timber frame homes are crafted in keeping with the traditions of timeless post and beam construction. All of our joinery is mortise and tenon secured with oak pegs. We offer western hem-fir or Eastern White Pine as standard woods, but offer many other woods upon request. Our resume features frames cut from Hem-fir, Doug Fir, Dried Oak, standing dead larch, and many varieties of reclaimed wood. While we are noted for our special details in our joinery and generous timber sizing, we have no two frames cut the same--we are driven by your vision to realize the post and beam home plans of your dreams.
